Aged Care Facilities

At BJA Architects we specialized in the design and development of Aged Care Facilities and we are proud to showcase many of our recent projects.

Michael Sin, our Director, who is well known within the Aged Care industry, he had lectured on topics relating to Elderly Awareness Architecture and Dementia . He introduced new concepts on the therapeutic environment and many of our new projects reflect these innovative ideas.

He had designed several successful retirement villages based on design ideas focussed on “homeliness”. The Cluster type layout of accommodation wings each centered around a private lounge with bedrooms with full ensuite and showers, all built to hospital standards was awarded special recognition by the industry.

The design work carried out by Michael includes retirement villages in Auckland, Paraparaumu, Napier, Gisborne, Tauranga, Wellington, Taupo, Christchurch and Whangarei.

BJA has recently completed the refurbishment and modernization with a new wing for a large resthome in Hamilton and two Auckland dementia resthome facilities, in Northshore and in Avondale and designed new Retirement facilities for a 133 bed Retirement complex in a rural setting in Parakai.

The retirement complex is focussed on a vineyard estate style architecture and is complemented with the availability of heated thermal springs water featuring health spas and a large outdoor heated swimming pool with thermal spring waters that are renowned for its therapeutic and healing qualities for the aged, relieving aches and pains. It has a health clinic and wellness centre next to it.
